Cliff Avenue Greenhouse & Garden Center

The name Cliff Ave. Greenhouse & Garden Center may be a bit confusing to some as we are no longer located on Cliff Avenue. It all started with a dream back in 1972. Our original owner started selling tomato plants out of his garage as a part-time job until the opportunity came to purchase the greenhouse. We “took root”, shall we say, at our original location until the city needed that land to build what is now River Boulevard.

In 1984 Cliff Ave. Greenhouse & Garden Center opened at its present home on East 26th Street. Here we went through several stages of growth. We built an addition on the store and also tore down our old greenhouses and put new ones up. The old greenhouses were reconstructed to increase the production of our annuals.

As the city of Sioux Falls grew, Cliff Ave. Greenhouse & Garden Center needed to expand to keep up with the demand. Our west side location “sprouted” in 1992. It is located on 41st street just west of Roosevelt High School.
